Kermit, Owner
Twenty-five years in, and I still think the difference between a job people are satisfied with and a job people brag about comes down to the details nobody's supposed to notice. The cut that's square. The seam that lines up. The site swept before we leave.
I don't cut corners, mostly for selfish reasons — I'd have to look at it every time I drove past, and I'd have to be the one to tell you about it.
Somewhere in those twenty-five years I picked up certifications in insulation, water damage restoration, structural drying, and building performance analysis. That's a long way of saying I can usually tell you why a house is cold, or wet, or costing you money — not just patch the part you can see.
I've got three daughters, all field hockey players, so I've logged a lot of cold Saturdays on a sideline and wouldn't trade any of them. When I'm not on a job I'm usually out in my own yard working on something. My family points out that this is the same thing I do all week. They're not wrong.

Steve, Owner
I came into the trades from a different direction. I'm a hydraulic mechanic in the Air Force, where "close enough" isn't a thing that exists — torque specs, tolerances, checklists, and you do it right or you don't do it at all. Six years in construction on top of that, and I've never found a good reason to work any other way.
I've got two kids and a wife who tolerates the fact that most of my free time goes to golf or to something in the driveway with the hood open. Same itch, honestly: I like taking a thing apart, understanding it, and putting it back better than I found it.
That's what I get out of a job — somebody walks into a room that used to bother them and now they like being in it.

Together
It started with a house. Steve's house, actually. Kermit came out to work on it, Steve started helping, and that's where six years of hands-on education began — the kind you can't get from a book or a video. Somewhere along the way they stopped being contractor and homeowner. They became family. Now they're business partners.
What they built the business on is the thing they already agreed about: do it right the first time. Not because it reads well on a website, but because doing it twice is expensive, and they'd rather earn the next job than relitigate the last one.
They're both detail people, probably to a fault. They catch what homeowners notice six months later. They show up when they say they will, they tell you what something actually costs, and they'd rather have the hard conversation early than hand you a bad surprise at the end.
Mostly, though, they love this work. There's a moment near the end of a project when a homeowner walks through and you watch it land on their face. That's the whole job.
